JEMMA'S BLOG

Inkfeather Pages

Inkfeather Pages is where I share the messier, more honest side of writing life — drafting, revising, the odd garden-fatigued Sunday, and everything in between. Expect notes from the desk, behind-the-scenes glimpses of works in progress, and the occasional ramble about what it actually takes to finish a novel.

Jemma Weir is a Scottish indie author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy with bite: magic is messy, love is fierce, and family means everything. Fantasy was her first love. Now she writes the kind of stories she always wanted to read — gritty, heartfelt, and just a little unhinged.

2022 Christmas Watch List

Christmas movies for 2022 are locked and loaded – though maybe i should have double checked where I will be watching them… But I am sure I will find them somewhere. If I can make a list of ones I’ve not seen before, even better, but

Finished Rift Bloodlines Book 2, Draft 2 (Bitten By Frost)

I got NaNoWriMo finished last week, and I was just shy of finishing Rift Bloodlines Book 2, but I made it over the line of Thursday. So book 2 Draft 2 is officially done! It’s not as clean as I was hoping, having gone from 35k to 71k long – though, to be fair, 15k of the first draft went straight in the bin (the salvage skip) so really it went from 20k to 71k.

Rift Bloodlines Book 2 Short Stories

This last fortnight, I have been working on the two prequels for Book 2 of the Rift Bloodlines series. Amelia’s story came out around 8k and Mitchel’s came out around 9k. Both longer than I’d planned. But the end result was worth those extra words. I wrote prequel shorts to each of the Rift Bloodlines books as part of a way to figure out the motivations of each couple. Why were they running from romance?

Website and branding updates

The new website went live today! I did new colours, branding and logo and it has turned out epic. Or at least I think it has. I especially love the header and the coloured logo! New Logos and backgrounds I built this Logo inside Canava – with the pro licence – and it amazed me at how easy it was. Initially, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to have a black or white background on the website,
