It’s done! I have finished Draft 3 of Rift Bloodlines 3 – Battered by Storms. This one took longer than expected, but not for the main edit itself. Week 4 July Camp Nano ends in 85702! I hit my Nano goal on the 23rd, and on the 25th I finished the book. It came in at 85702. Before I can officially mark this draft as done, I need to double back fix chapter one, and a POV issue. My writers group kindly reviewed the first chapter and gave some fantastic ideas on what was wrong and how I can fix it. So, after
Week 3 July Camp Nano ends in 74002 words! That’s just over 17k words on last week, so a much lower word count. It was mostly expected as I knew there was going to be a sticky point right inside the fight scene. But after much back and forth, the fix finally settled into place and it worked! My writers group has been taking a peak at the beginning scenes in this book for me.
Week 2 July Camp Nano ends in 56658 words! That’s nearly 37k words on last week, and I hit the 2/3 mark, way above target. With this weeks fast progress this week I’m nearing into Act 3. Act 3 is going require a lot of work in places, but if this progress keeps up I might be able to finish this up early. Wohoo, another draft bites the dust. I have completed Draft 2 of Book 3 – Battered by Storms and its nearly ready for Beta. I broke a couple of things by the end of Draft 2 so it needs another a 3rd draft before I’ll torture anyone with it.
I ordered proof copies of my paperbacks through Draft 2 Digital for book 1 of Rift Bloodlines and Ernie’s collection. They look pretty cool I think. The font is too small, so I will defiantly need to get a new proof, but having these both in hand feels amazing. I should get the Proof edit back for The Life and Chaos of a Retired Old God back soon, and I can get the final edit
