JEMMA'S BLOG

Inkfeather Pages

Inkfeather Pages is where I share the messier, more honest side of writing life — drafting, revising, the odd garden-fatigued Sunday, and everything in between. Expect notes from the desk, behind-the-scenes glimpses of works in progress, and the occasional ramble about what it actually takes to finish a novel.

Jemma Weir is a Scottish indie author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy with bite: magic is messy, love is fierce, and family means everything. Fantasy was her first love. Now she writes the kind of stories she always wanted to read — gritty, heartfelt, and just a little unhinged.

Week 5 of NaNoWriMo November 2023

Word Counts for Week 5 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 I won Nano! ???? Week 5 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 got me to 50704 an entire day early. The writing days went very smoothly to the point I got 600+ words per sprint instead of the usual 400+. As I said last week, writing every day isn’t for me, but it has shown that I can push for a larger word count over a shorter period.

Week 4 of NaNoWriMo November 2023

Word Counts for Week 4 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 Week 4 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 brought me through the last of the patching of old content and reduced the workload to a normal level. As I hit the end of the weekend, I am directly in the middle of the book, and being a romance means spicy scenes. With 4 days of nano left and the likelihood I’ll need to switch projects at the start

Week 3 of NaNoWriMo November 2023

Word Counts for Week 1 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 Week 3 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 has gone better than last week, but only by a small measure, except for one day when I seriously considered whether this story was right for these characters. Words this week were still hard-fought, and I didn’t always manage to hit par, but the rhythm is finally starting to feel right. Two or three pieces of the puzzle that I

Week 2 of NaNoWriMo November 2023

Word Counts for Week 1 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 Week 2 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 gave me an absolute headache as the plot fell apart, and I could not make the pieces fit together. This wasn’t just a small change; it was a massive change where events moved in order and changed again after I edited them and realised it wasn’t working. As a result of this chaos, I had no new words on day

Rebranding the Rift Bloodlines Series to Highland Rift Pack

Over the last week, I have rebranded my entire Rift Bloodlines series to Highland Rift Pack. Why Rebrand to Highland Rift Pack? I was on the edge of sleep last week, thinking about all the various plans for this particular series, and it occurred to me that I wanted to write some other characters in this world. But those characters weren’t shifters and weren’t part of the main arc that flows through the books I’ve

I cannot believe we are nearly in to October! This year has flown by. I’m already looking forward to what I want to do next year! That may be my impatience to get Rift Bloodlines ready and out there.
