Word Counts for Week 1 of NaNoWriMo November 2023

Week 2 of NaNoWriMo November 2023 gave me an absolute headache as the plot fell apart, and I could not make the pieces fit together. This wasn’t just a small change; it was a massive change where events moved in order and changed again after I edited them and realised it wasn’t working.

As a result of this chaos, I had no new words on day 9, and the rest of the week’s words after this point were hard fought. Additionally, I needed to do double the sprints in some cases to get the daily words.

There is nothing quite as devastating as a writer as tearing apart and re-writing about the 15k I had already written, then realise some of it had to kind of go back to the way it was.

On the plus side I know why its not working, this book is a romance and the characters weren’t really interacting anywhere near enough. However its not helping much as I strugle to find the pieces.

More fixes are still needed as I role into week 3, but I was able to push through and hit the mimum 20k word count goal for the end of the week.
